(KABC) &#8212; A police chase involving a speeding Corvette ended with a dramatic crash in the city of Torrance Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">It appears the pursuit began in Orange County and quickly involved high speeds as California Highway Patrol officers chased the suspect on the 5 Freeway before transitioning to the westbound 91 Freeway and then to the 110 Freeway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The pursuit then took to surface streets in Compton and Torrance where, at one point, the suspect pulled into a gas station before taking off again as CHP officers tried to box him in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The chase ended near Sepulveda Boulevard and Hawthorne Boulevard in Torrance after the suspect crashed into a tree, which then fell down, trapping and preventing the Corvette from speeding away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Officers quickly surrounded the vehicle and took the driver into custody.
