The Hawaii baseball team held off Cal State Bakersfield 5-3 today at Hardt Field on the CSUB campus.<\/p>\n
Hekili Robello and Brody Martin-Grudzielanek combined to space 10 hits as the Rainbow Warriors evened the three-game series at a win apiece. First pitch of Sunday\u2019s series finale is at 10 a.m. Hawaii time.<\/p>\n
Robello allowed three runs in 6 2\/3 innings. Martin-Grudzielanek, who made the move to closer a week ago, earned the seven-out walk.<\/p>\n
With two outs in the eighth, head coach Rich Hill nade a mound visit. It turned into a brainstorming session with Martin-Grudzielanek.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was the one who brought it up to me on the mound,\u201d Hill said. \u201cHe said, \u2018I think I can pick this guy off.\u201d<\/p>\n
Martin-Grudzielanek picked off pinch runner Taison Miller to end the eighth inning.<\/p>\n

In the ninth, Martin-Grudzielanek relinquished a leadoff single, then struck out the next three. <\/p>\n

The \u2019Bows added two more in the fifth when Tate Shimao was plunked with the bases loaded and Evan Rolbiecki followed with a run-scoring fielder\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n
