Macklin Celebrini’<\/a>s historic Sharks season sparked great reactions from Bay Area sports legends across the region.<\/p>\n

Celebrini, in the final game of the 2025-26 NHL regular season<\/a>, earned his 115th point against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, breaking franchise icon Joe Thornton’s record<\/a> for most points in a single Sharks campaign.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old forward, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, pushed his total to 115 points (45 goals, 70 assists), passing Thornton’s record of 114 in 2006-07.<\/p>\n

Jumbo shared the love with a special video posted to the Sharks’ official Instagram account to congratulate the teen superstar.<\/p>\n

“Macklin, Macklin, Macklin. What a season,” Thornton said. “I thought the record was going to stand for a little bit longer than two years. I thought I’d at least get you out of your teenage years, but I guess not. But Mack, you know how I feel about you and your game. I just love watching you. Congratulations. You know all the Thorntons love you. <\/p>\n

“I can’t wait to see you keep breaking more of your own records. Love you!”<\/p>\n

The video post garnered more responses from other local greats, such as Warriors superstar Steph Curry.<\/p>\n

“This is amazing!!” Curry wrote in a comment under the post.<\/p>\n

Curry has known Celebrini for years, working closely with Rick Celebrini, Macklin’s dad and the vice president of player health and performance with the Warriors.<\/p>\n

Standout 49ers tight end George Kittle also weighed in, commenting with the “salute” emoji to express his support.<\/p>\n

“This [is fire],” Warriors guard Gary Payton II commented.<\/p>\n

Celebrini’s greatness, similar to that of Curry’s, has brought the Bay Area sports world together<\/a> — regardless of sport or era — in inspiring ways.<\/p>\n

And it’s just the beginning.<\/p>\n
