{"id":278543,"date":"2026-04-21T13:53:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T13:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/278543\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T13:53:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T13:53:08","slug":"how-much-did-it-cost-westminster-to-throw-the-big-tet-parade-orange-county-register","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/278543\/","title":{"rendered":"How much did it cost Westminster to throw the big T\u1ebft parade? \u2013 Orange County Register"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ushering in the Year of the Horse with its famed T\u1ebft parade along Bolsa Avenue in the heart of Little Saigon cost the city of Westminster just a third of what it spent on the celebration in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Little Saigon, which spans Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Santa Ana and Westminster, is home to the largest community of Vietnamese living outside of Vietnam, and the annual T\u1ebft parade \u2014 which the city took over hosting in recent years \u2014 draws big crowds to line the street and is broadcast internationally.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/2026\/02\/21\/young-old-celebrate-tet-at-westminsters-big-parade\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">This year, the parade landed on Feb. 21<\/a> and drew 250,000 viewers through local TV station broadcasts and <a href=\"https:\/\/lfweblink.westminster-ca.gov\/WebLink\/DocView.aspx?id=2719289&amp;dbid=0&amp;repo=CityofWestminster&amp;cr=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">more than 15,000 in-person attendees<\/a>, city officials estimated in a report that will be presented to the City Council on Wednesday, April 22. The council is also expected to pick a date for next year\u2019s parade that night.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s T\u1ebft parade featured approximately 2,500 participants, who rode dozens of floats, marched in bands, performed lion dances and walked to represent community groups along the route down Bolsa Avenue and between Magnolia and Bushard streets.<\/p>\n<p>The T\u1ebft parade has celebrated the Lunar New Year in Little Saigon for more than two decades, with various organizers, including at times the city. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/2022\/12\/01\/westminster-city-hall-steps-in-to-ensure-tet-parade-tradition-marches-on\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Westminster officials stepped in again for 2023, organizing the parade with less than two months\u2019 leeway,<\/a> and have continued to handle the planning since.<\/p>\n<p>At times over the parade\u2019s lifespan, organizers have struggled with the cost of the endeavor and finding sponsors.
