BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A 40-year-old Frazier Park man, identified as a Kern County Fire Department firefighter, was airlifted to the hospital with severe injuries after a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 99 Tuesday morning, while on his way to work.<\/p>\n

The California Highway Patrol said on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at around 8:48 a.m., officers were called to a solo-vehicle crash in the area of northbound Highway 99 at Sandrini Road.<\/p>\n

CHP said a preliminary investigation found that a 40-year-old man from Frazier Park, and sole occupant, was driving a 2004 Toyota Tacoma northbound on Highway 99, south of Sandrini Road at an unknown rate of speed.<\/p>\n

According to CHP, the driver made an unsafe turn onto the shoulder and overturned into a vineyard.<\/p>\n

The driver sustained major injuries, but non-life-threatening, according to CHP. He was airlifted to Kern Medical.<\/p>\n

CHP said DUI is not believed to be a factor.<\/p>\n

The roadway was only closed momentarily.<\/p>\n

The Kern County Fire Department confirmed a Kern County Fire Department firefighter was involved in the crash. Officials said he was driving to work.<\/p>\n
