(FOX40.COM) \u2014\u00a0The Sacramento Police Department conducted a DUI checkpoint along Broadway on Monday, targeting impaired driving as part of increased enforcement tied to \u201c4\/20,\u201d a day associated with cannabis use.<\/p>\n
The checkpoint was set up near the intersection of Broadway and 21st Street, where officers stopped eastbound traffic between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. According to Sacramento police, the location was selected based on a history of traffic collisions in the area.<\/p>\n
Sacramento police said that a total of 764 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Officers conducted 68 driver\u2019s license checks during the operation.<\/p>\n
Authorities reported issuing 30 citations to drivers operating vehicles with suspended or revoked licenses or without a valid license. An additional 20 citations were issued for other violations.<\/p>\n
The checkpoint was staffed by a combination of police personnel, volunteers, chaplains, cadets, members of Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the Sacramento County Crime Lab.<\/p>\n
SPD said DUI checkpoints are aimed at reducing impaired driving and increasing public safety by deterring motorists from driving under the influence.<\/p>\n
