The Tritons (16-20) and Toreros (14-23) played their fourth extra-inning game in the last six meetings, with five of those games being decided by one run. The season series finished 1-1 with both games going to 10 innings and resulting in a walk-off victory for the home team.

\nUSD was first to strike, scoring two runs on a double down the left field line in the third inning to make it 2-0. The Tritons responded an inning later, loading the bases with one out before Ujimori reached on a fielder’s choice and a fielding error scored Widelski from third. UC San Diego attempted a sac fly but the runner was thrown out at home for a double play that ended the inning, 2-1.

\nUC San Diego took the lead in the fifth inning with a two-run homer from Widelski, his first of the season, bringing Dunne home and putting the Tritons ahead 3-2 through five innings.

\nIn the seventh inning, Widelski extended UC San Diego’s lead with a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Maher and making it 4-2. The Toreros responded in the bottom half, scoring on a groundout, narrowing the lead to 4-3.

\nThe eighth inning saw UC San Diego get the run back to lead 5-3 when Shane Cannon<\/a> scored from first base on a double by Maher. However, USD quickly equalized with a two-run homer, tying the game at 5-5.
