Chourico. Bacalhau. Octopus. Orange tort. And maybe all in one meal.<\/p>\n
For the fourth year, the Consulate of Portugal in San Francisco and the Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency (AICEP) are teaming up to introduce diners to the delights of Portuguese cuisine.<\/p>\n
Portugal Restaurant Week will run through Sunday, April 26, with promotions at eight\u00a0restaurants in the Bay Area and Southern California. Reservations are strongly recommended.<\/p>\n
Participants and menu highlights include:<\/p>\n
Adega, San Jose: At this Little Portugal restaurant that became San Jose\u2019s first Michelin-starred restaurant, the three-course, $109 fine-dining menu features appetizer choices of squid tempura or artichoke cream with jamon followed by two entree choices: swordfish with a white wine dill sauce or lamb \u201cvindaloo\u201d with sides. A selection of desserts will follow.<\/p>\n
Petiscos, San Jose: At Petiscos, a more casual restaurant owned by the Adega family, the three-course, $55 menu offers multiple selections. For an appetizer, choose from among kale soup, flaming chourico, shrimp in garlic sauce, steamed clams or five other options. For the main, select from roasted octopus, two codfish preparations, pork & clams, steak sandwich, duck rice or other entrees. For dessert, the choices are orange tort, flan or chocolate mousse.<\/p>\n
Holy Nata, San Francisco: This bakery, which opened in 2023, is offering 10% off all orders when Portugal Restaurant Week is mentioned.<\/p>\n
La Salette, Sonoma: The $56 menu at this restaurant \u2014 in business since 1998 \u2014 offers a choice of caldo verde, the traditional soup, or a Portuguese salad with linguica in an anchovy vinaigrette for the appetizer course. That\u2019s followed by either Portuguese pot roast or a bacalhau casserole for the entree. For dessert, the choices are orange roll, rice pudding, almond ice cream sandwich or a madeira-braised fig.<\/p>\n
Tasca Tasca, Sonoma: Diners who purchase a three-item tapas board this week can get an additional tapa of caldo verde or tuna-chickpea salad for $6.<\/p>\n
