BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed a second person was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting on Knotts Street.<\/p>\n

KCSO said on April 13, 2026, at around 10:15 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Knotts Street for a report of a shooting. <\/a>When deputies arrived, they found two victims, both men.<\/p>\n

Both were taken to a hospital, where one of the victims, later identified as 30-year-old Arthur Deray Ward<\/a>, was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

KCSO said 21-year-old Matthew Ryan Rodriguez was arrested.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to murder and participating in a criminal street gang.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez is expected to return to court on April 30.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, 22-year-old Donterrence Brown <\/a>was arrested for the homicide.<\/p>\n
