San Francisco is trimming the fine for one of the city’s most common parking violations: failure to curb a car’s wheels when parking on a hill.<\/p>\n
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors voted Tuesday to reduce the fine for parking on grades from $73 to $48 as part of its newest budget.<\/p>\n
The MTA viewed the violations as not impacting traffic safety.<\/p>\n
Drivers in San Francisco must turn their wheels and set the parking brake on any hill with a grade greater than 3%.<\/p>\n
Wheels must be turned toward the curb when facing downhill, and away from the curb when facing uphill.<\/p>\n
The budget also introduces a new policy to encourage more daily Muni use called fare capping.
