(KRON<\/a>) \u2014 The Oakland Police Department said four juveniles linked to a series of armed carjacking robberies in East Oakland \u2014 including a pistol-whipping incident \u2014 were taken into custody Tuesday after they ditched their vehicle and tried to outrun police.<\/p>\n

OPD said the robberies occurred between 9:45 p.m. Sunday and 12:15 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n

OPD said patrol officers spotted one of the stolen vehicles, and the driver did not pull over for police.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers later located the vehicle in the area of Kingsland Place and Morcom Avenue, where multiple juveniles exited and ran,\u201d said OPD in a statement in KRON4. \u201cAfter a brief foot pursuit, officers took four juveniles into custody, two from Oakland, one from Hayward, and one from Richmond.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police said they recovered two loaded, unregistered firearms during the arrests. \u201cBoth firearms had devices that converted them into fully automatic weapons,\u201d added OPD.<\/p>\n

Despite the arrests, this remains an active case. Anyone with information is strongly encouraged to contact the OPD\u2019s robbery division at (510) 238-3326. Those with videos or photos that can help investigators is asked to send them to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.<\/p>\n
