Midland Elementary School in Poway is hosting a digital literacy program for parents and caregivers as part of a collaborative effort between the National PTA and AT&T.<\/p>\n
The free program titled \u201cPTA Connected: Ready, Tech, Go!\u201d is set for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29 at the Midland Elementary School multipurpose room, 13910 Midland Road.<\/p>\n
The Ready, Tech, Go! program helps families build knowledge and skills to use technology safely and responsibly, organizers said.<\/p>\n
Caregivers will learn about screen readiness and how to create a healthy digital home. Practical tools and resources will be discussed.<\/p>\n
During the event, parents and caregivers will engage in peer-to-peer conversations about various aspects of screen readiness; become familiar with tools and resources that help determine screen readiness; and gain new ideas to promote a healthy digital home.<\/p>\n
Children can attend their own internet safety presentation during the adult presentation. The San Diego Police Foundation will give a SafetyNet: Smart Cyber Choices presentation to the kids.<\/p>\n
Held jointly by the National PTA and AT&T, the presentation is part of AT&T\u2019s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. The PTA Connected initiative seeks to improve digital access and equity, digital safety and well-being, cybersecurity and digital literacy for all children.<\/p>\n
Together they accomplish their goals through tailored programs, dissemination of resources and tools, and with community conversations, organizers said.<\/p>\n
Since 2021, AT&T has committed $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030, according to the company.<\/p>\n
PTA is a nonprofit that comprises millions of families, students, teachers, administrators and business and community leaders devoted to the educational success of children and the promotion of family engagement in schools.<\/p>\n
