SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Long Beach State opened postseason play in dominant fashion on Wednesday, sweeping UC San Diego 4-0 at the Barnes Tennis Center to advance to the quarterfinals of the Big West Tennis Championships.<\/p>\n
The Beach set the tone early by securing the doubles point with convincing performances on two courts. Cecilia Costa<\/a> and Paulina Franco rolled to a 6-2 win at the top position, while Daisy Carpenter<\/a> and Diana De Simone<\/a> followed with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 to clinch the point. The No. 2 match featuring Pamela Badillo<\/a> and Thea Jagare<\/a> was left unfinished at 5-5 once the point was decided.<\/p>\n Carrying that momentum into singles, Long Beach State quickly built an insurmountable lead.
