\t\t\t\tCalifornia women’s tennis senior All-American Berta Passola Folch<\/a> and freshman Johanne Svendsen<\/a> were named to the All-ACC Singles teams, the conference announced Thursday. Passola Folch \u2013 this season’s NCAA Singles Championship runner-up \u2013 was awarded a spot on the first team and Svendsen named to the third team.

\nPassola Folch, who hails from Barcelona, Spain, and Svendsen, a product of Copenhagen, Denmark, are key contributors to the Golden Bears’ strong season that includes a 12-7 record and a run to the ACC Championship quarterfinals, with the Bears poised to receive an at-large berth in the NCAA Championship, with the field to be announced Monday.

\nCurrently ranked No. 22 in the nation in singles, Passola Folch is nearing the end of the best season of her career. Last fall, she reached an individual NCAA tournament for the first time and garnered her first All-America honor on the way to the singles final. Passola Folch earned a career-best No. 8 singles ranking in March and was named the ACC Player of the Week after leading Cal to conference-opening wins over Clemson and Georgia Tech in February. With her most recent singles win, the Spaniard clinched Cal’s 4-2 victory over Florida State in the third round of last week’s ACC Championship. Passola Folch has compiled a 28-8 singles record, including a 7-1 Court 2 record.

\nSvendsen is ranked No. 35 in singles and has produced an 8-2 record \u2013 including 7-2 on Court 1 \u2013 despite missing some collegiate action while playing for her country against Portugal in the Billie Jean King Cup in early April. She has clinched a team-best four Cal victories, including the season-opening 4-3 win over then-No. 17 UCLA and a 4-1 win over then-No. 21 Clemson. Among Svendsen’s notable wins was a 6-3, 6-2 result over Pepperdine’s Anastasiia Grechkina, who was ranked No. 10 at the time, and a 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 win over USC’s Jana Hossam (No. 16). Svendsen was ranked a career-best No. 16 earlier this spring.

\nThe Bears are the third and fourth Cal women’s tennis players to earn All-ACC honors, including Mao Mushika<\/a> and former Cal star Jessica Alsola<\/a>, who claimed the accolades last season.
