A person was shot dead in West Oakland on Thursday morning and police made an arrest related to the homicide investigation, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police were called to 18th and Wood streets just after 11 a.m. Thursday. When officers arrived, they found one victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officers attempted life-saving measures before paramedics arrived, but the person died before going to a hospital. The identity of the victim was withheld Thursday, pending notification of next of kin.\u00a0<\/p>\n
One person was taken into custody at the scene in connection to the shooting, an Oakland Police Department spokesperson said Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
No other information, including a motive, was released.<\/p>\n
