OAKLAND \u2014 One person is dead, and another is in custody following a shooting Thursday morning in West Oakland, police said.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened shortly after 11 a.m. in the area of 18th and Wood streets, near Raimondi Park, according to the Oakland Police Department.<\/p>\n

Officers found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. They attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, but the person died at the scene.<\/p>\n

The person has not been publicly identified.<\/p>\n

A person was arrested at the scene in connection with the shooting, according to police.<\/p>\n

Detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation, police said. No other details were released Thursday.<\/p>\n
