{"id":283841,"date":"2026-04-24T14:29:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T14:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/283841\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T14:29:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T14:29:07","slug":"trump-meets-with-la-mayor-bass-to-talk-about-rebuilding-progress-regarding-ca-wildfires-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/283841\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump meets with LA Mayor Bass to talk about rebuilding progress regarding CA wildfires"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 President Donald Trump said Thursday that he met with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to discuss the rebuilding progress following the California wildfires <a href=\"https:\/\/thenationaldesk.com\/news\/americas-news-now\/investigators-search-for-cause-of-la-wildfires-that-have-destroyed-10000-buildings-los-angeles-pacific-palisades-eaton-sunset-kenneth-fire-wind-lightning-arson-utility-line-containment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">that happened a year ago.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was my Great Honor to meet with the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger (Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors), and the Supervisor\u2019s Chief of Staff, Anna Mouradian, to discuss the progress made on the horrific fires that ravaged Los Angeles, and the surrounding area,\u201d Trump wrote on TRUTH Social.<\/p>\n<p>In January of 2025, wildfires swept through the Los Angeles area, leaving many people dead and multiple homes destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>Hollywood stars like Jamie Lee Curtis and Billy Crystal lost their homes in the fire.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thenationaldesk.com\/news\/americas-news-now\/actress-suggests-criticism-of-la-mayor-over-wildfires-is-racially-motivated-yvette-nicole-brown-kym-whitley-los-angeles-fires-karen-bass\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bass got a lot of backlash<\/a> for how she handled the wildfires as she was visiting Ghana, Africa when the blazes happened. She later didn\u2019t answer a reporter who asked for an answer on how she thought she handled the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince my strong action and statements with respect to Insurance Companies, and the way they were treating the Home Owners, that aspect of this Disaster has proceeded well \u2014 Big progress has been made, and those Companies are \u201cstepping up to the plate,\u201d as they should be,\u201d Trump\u2019s post continued.<\/p>\n<p>Trump said he was working with Environmental Protection Agency head Lee Zeldin to continue to move forward with getting the state back on track.<\/p>\n<p>Comment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn particular, I want to thank our Great EPA Administrator, Lee Zeldin, for the incredible speed with which he has already accomplished his very complex Environmental work.
