A worker in distress was dangling from a tree in San Jose before rescuers managed to reach him and bring him down on Friday morning, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The incident began at about 10:10 a.m. at a home in the city’s Hillsdale neighborhood on Sunburst Drive east of Monterey Road and north of Capitol Expressway.<\/p>\n

The San Jose Fire Department said worker was attached to a palm tree and experienced a medical emergency. The worker was hanging from the top of a tree in a harness about 75 feet above the ground.<\/p>\n

The worker appeared to be moving his hand as a Cal Fire rescuer was lowered by helicopter to reach him at about 11:30 a.m. The rescuer managed to remove the worker from the tree and the helicopter brought them both down to the ground, where the worker was immediately rushed to a hospital.<\/p>\n

The Fire Department said the worker was conscious at the time at the time he was transported and was in critical condition.<\/p>\n

This incident reflects strong coordination between SJFD and CAL FIRE to ensure the individual was rescued as quickly and safely as possible.<\/p>\n

He was conscious at the time of transport and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n
