SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX5) \u2014 San Diegans are joining a nationwide effort to end pancreatic cancer this Saturday, April 25. The San Diego affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is hosting its annual PurpleStride walk at De Anza Cove.<\/p>\n
Pancreatic cancer affects far too many, including San Diego Police Captain Brian Avera<\/a>, who passed away earlier this month at just 43 years old.<\/p>\n For patients, survivors, and families who have lost loved ones, events like PurpleStride provide a powerful sense of community, support, and hope.<\/p>\n An estimated 67,000 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year, with roughly 52,000 losing their lives to the disease.<\/p>\n The goal of PurpleStride is to raise awareness and funding for future research and treatments.
