<\/a>Omar Zacarias and Silvia Reyes were tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident on Thursday in Bakersfield.<\/p>\n\nAccording to police, Omar Zacarias, 49, and Silvia Reyes, 51, were in a Ford SUV rear-ended by a Toyota at a high speed at about 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Harris Road and Summer Springs Drive. As a result, a secondary impact was caused by a Honda at the intersection. Sadly, Zacarias and Reyes died at the scene.<\/p>\n
\nTwo men inside the Honda reported complaints of pain only. The accident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

\nThe National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that distracted driving is a factor in 90 percent of rear-end crashes.<\/p>\n
