{"id":288545,"date":"2026-04-27T19:48:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T19:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/288545\/"},"modified":"2026-04-27T19:48:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T19:48:08","slug":"man-crashes-tesla-into-ferndale-store-while-fleeing-cops-the-oakland-press","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/288545\/","title":{"rendered":"Man crashes Tesla into Ferndale store while fleeing cops \u2013 The Oakland Press"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Garden City man crashed into a Verizon store on Woodward Avenue in Ferndale while fleeing cops last Friday, police said, and is now facing criminal charges.<\/p>\n<p>Emad Rehman, 26, is charged with third-degree fleeing and eluding \u2014 a felony \u2014 and driving while license suspended, a misdemeanor.<\/p>\n<p>Rehman is held in the Oakland County Jail with bond set at $5,000. He also has several outstanding warrants for traffic-related charges in Wayne County, his jail record shows, and reportedly has no insurance on the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"mugshot\" width=\"116\" height=\"145\" data- src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/TOP-L-fleecopscrash0427-01.jpg\" data-attachment-id=\"2723082\" \/>Emad Rehman<\/p>\n<p>According to the Oakland County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, the police pursuit began when a Royal Oak officer saw Rehman run a red light while driving a Tesla Model 3. He then started weaving through traffic at a high speed, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the storefront at the corner of Woodward and Lewiston avenues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fortunate this incident ended without any injuries,\u201d said Prosecutor Karen McDonald stated in a news release.. \u201cThe defendant\u2019s alleged actions recklessly endangered countless motorists and damaged a business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Third-degree fleeing and eluding is punishable by up to five years in prison and\/or a $1,000 fine.
