DUBLIN \u2013 The Mercy Brown Bag Program, a nonprofit organization that provides groceries to low-income seniors, will hold an information session at the Dublin Senior Center, 7600 Amador Valley Blvd., from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28.<\/p>\n
Seniors 60 and older are being encouraged to attend the session to learn if they are eligible for the program, which is available countywide.<\/p>\n
Residents of the Mercy Retirement and Care Center in Oakland started the Brown Bag program in 1982, encouraging local businesses to donate groceries for seniors facing food insecurity.<\/p>\n
The program now reaches more than 10,000 people in 13 cities across Alameda County. Food is distributed at 82 sites twice a month.<\/p>\n
