Patchy fog and low clouds are expected to hang around from the predawn hours into mid-morning, then clear out for sunshine by late morning and into the afternoon. Highs in the city are forecast to reach about 67°F on Tuesday, with inland neighborhoods warming a few degrees higher through midweek. Offshore, winds and seas will stay choppy enough to be a concern for smaller boats.

Afternoon Outlook

Afternoons across the Bay Area should be mostly sunny, backed by a light west-southwest breeze of 2 to 9 mph in the city and highs near 67°F today and about 68°F tomorrow. Just inland, temperatures will climb more steadily into the upper 60s and low 70s by Thursday and Friday. According to the National Weather Service, most of the week will stay dry away from the immediate coast, while the marine layer keeps shoreline neighborhoods noticeably cooler.

Fog and the Commute

Morning drivers should be ready for reduced visibility near the Golden Gate, Ocean Beach and other coastal corridors, where thicker fog could also leave behind damp pavement and a bit of drizzle in low spots. Forecasters are calling for a moderate chance of low ceilings around SFO and OAK overnight through tomorrow, which means some early flights and ferry runs could experience delays or slower approaches. If you are heading out early, plan for extra travel time and bring a light layer; once the sun breaks through, the afternoon will feel much warmer.

Boaters Watch Offshore

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 3 PM tomorrow for waters from Point Arena to Point Reyes (10 to 60 nautical miles offshore), with northwest winds expected to gust and seas building into the 8 to 13 foot range. Mariners are advised to avoid small open vessels and seek safe harbor until conditions ease. For the full advisory text, see the National Weather Service.

Late-Week Trend

The inland warmup is expected to peak near the end of the week, with some interior valleys possibly reaching the 80s on Friday before a trough moves in, thickening clouds and bringing a chance of drizzle this weekend. Forecast models currently point to light, spotty precipitation at first, with measurable rain more likely late Sunday into early next week, so it may be wise to keep weekend outdoor plans a bit flexible. In short: cool, foggy mornings, mostly pleasant sunny afternoons through Friday and a growing chance of wetter conditions by the back half of the weekend.

[30
101,103,102,104,106,105
0":"post-289882","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-san-francisco","8":"tag-san-francisco","9":"tag-san-francisco-headlines","10":"tag-san-francisco-news","11":"tag-sf","12":"tag-sf-headlines","13":"tag-sf-news
["GET
