Ariana Grande revealed Tuesday that her eighth studio album, \u201cPetal,\u201d will be released July 31. Grande announced the album on Instagram<\/a>, after teasing the release with photos<\/a> and videos<\/a> of her in the studio throughout the spring. The post included the album\u2019s cover, a simple black-and-white photo of Grande smiling with strands of hair covering her face.<\/p>\n In an Instagram<\/a> video from mid-April, Grande described the album as \u201csomething that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.\u201d<\/p>\n The album is executive produced and written by Grande and Ilya Salmanzadeh, an Iranian Swedish producer who worked on Grande\u2019s albums \u201cSweetener,\u201d \u201cThank U, Next\u201d and \u201cEternal Sunshine.\u201d<\/p>\n Grande\u2019s previous studio album, \u201cEternal Sunshine,\u201d was released in March 2024. Grande explained that she had to take a break from music while working on \u201cWicked\u201d and \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d because of the physical toll shooting the films took on her.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery single day was a big day,\u201d Grande told Variety<\/a> in January. \u201cA lot of days, we were shooting two movies in one.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Grande also tried to quell Arianators\u2019 fears in July, writing on Instagram<\/a> that it would be \u201cvery silly\u201d to assume that just because she had her \u201chands full with many things\u201d that she would \u201cabandon singing & music.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt may not look exactly like it did before but I much prefer how it looks in my head. I am having fun. I feel grateful and excited and inspired,\u201d Grande wrote. \u201c[I\u2019m] finding a balance, between many projects and endeavors I love, and doing it my own way.\u201d<\/p>\n Grande earned an Academy Award nomination for her performance as Glinda in \u201cWicked,\u201d as well as Actor Awards nominations for the film and its sequel. Grande won a Grammy earlier this year for pop duo\/group performance for \u201cDefying Gravity\u201d with co-star Cynthia Erivo. <\/p>\n \u201cPetal\u201d will be released during Grande\u2019s Eternal Sunshine tour, which kicks off in June. The tour, which hits only 10 cities, launches June 6 at the Oakland Arena and comes to Los Angeles later that month for two nights at Crypto.com Arena and another two at Kia Forum.<\/p>\n In November, Grande said her upcoming tour<\/a> was \u201cone last hurrah\u201d before stepping back from touring indefinitely.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time,\u201d she said on the \u201cGood Hang With Amy Poehler\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cSo I\u2019m going to give it my all and it\u2019s going to be beautiful and I think that\u2019s why I\u2019m doing it, because it\u2019s like, one last hurrah.\u201d<\/p>\n Adding onto Grande\u2019s busy year, her new film, \u201cFocker-in-Law,\u201d will hit theaters in November. The movie is the fourth installment in the \u201cMeet the Parents\u201d franchise starring Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller. Grande plays Olivia Jones, an FBI hostage negotiator who is dating a member of the Focker family. During an interview with \u201c<\/a>Today\u201d<\/a> last year, Grande called the experience on set \u201ctruly spectacular.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cEvery single person in the cast, I have grown up worshipping,\u201d Grande said. \u201cSo to be able to work with them, and share a creative space with them, was a dream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n
