{"id":291798,"date":"2026-04-29T18:54:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T18:54:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/291798\/"},"modified":"2026-04-29T18:54:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T18:54:11","slug":"work-begins-for-83-acre-development-at-former-westminster-mall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/291798\/","title":{"rendered":"Work begins for 83-acre development at former Westminster Mall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Work has commenced for Bolsa Pacific, <a href=\"https:\/\/la.urbanize.city\/post\/westminster-mall-give-way-80-acre-mixed-use-development\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a sprawling mixed-use development that will replace the former Westminster Mall<\/a>, architecture <a href=\"https:\/\/la.urbanize.city\/tags\/ao\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AO<\/a> announced earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"image-and-caption\">\n<a class=\"fancybox\" href=\"https:\/\/la.urbanize.city\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/1140w\/public\/2026-02\/AO_Bolsa%20Pacific%203%20-%20credit%20AO.jpg?itok=J6CoASix\" rel=\"article-image-set nofollow noopener\" title=\"AO\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"image-950w article-inline-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/AO_Bolsa Pacific 3 - credit AO.jpg\" width=\"950\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nRendering of Bolsa PacificAO<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/la.urbanize.city\/tags\/shopoff-realty\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shopoff Realty Investments,\u00a0<\/a>which completed its acquisition of the last portions of the 83-acre property earlier this year, is planning the construction of:<\/p>\n<p>2,250 residential units in a mix of for-sale homes, market-rate apartments, and affordable housing;approximately 220,000 square feet of retail space;a 120-room hotel; and15 acres of parks and open spaces.<\/p>\n<p>AO&#8217;s design for the project calls for a series of contemporary podium-type buildings at the center of the complex, rising up to eight stories in height. The bulk of the new housing would be in the form of townhomes.<\/p>\n<p>Ongoing work includes the demolition of the existing mall, though an existing Target continuing to\u00a0operate. Construction of the full project is set to begin in late 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"image-and-caption\">\n<a class=\"fancybox\" href=\"https:\/\/la.urbanize.city\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/1140w\/public\/2026-02\/AO_Bolsa%20Pacific%201%20-credit%20AO.jpg?itok=835KRneA\" rel=\"article-image-set nofollow noopener\" title=\"AO\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"image-950w article-inline-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/AO_Bolsa Pacific 1 -credit AO.jpg\" width=\"950\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nRendering of Bolsa PacificAO<\/p>\n<p>Shopoff has spent the past three years acquiring the Westminster Mall property, starting with approximately 26 acres of land that formerly housed a Sears and a Macy&#8217;s in Summer 2022.
