A US Senate candidate in Michigan is under fire for past social media posts <\/a>where she not only looked down on \u201cMiddle America\u201d but also proclaimed her love for California \u2014 so much so that she even voted in California elections while supposedly in Michigan.<\/p>\n

Democrat\u00a0Mallory McMorrow deleted thousands of tweets<\/a>, some of which defended \u201ccoastal elites,\u201d after The New York Post first reported on them last year.<\/p>\n

McMurrow wrote in her 2025 autobiography that she \u201crelocated permanently\u201d to Michigan in 2014. But there are tweets where she said she was a California resident and voter as late as July 2016.<\/p>\n

Born in New Jersey, the candidate had lived in the Golden State to work various jobs, according to her LinkedIn<\/a>. <\/p>\n

She was a designer for toy company Mattel in El Segundo in 2012, and she was later back in the state after a stint in New York as a director of creative strategy for a production studio in Venice, California, until 2015.<\/p>\n

Her first Michigan-based job listed on her LinkedIn began in July 2017.<\/p>\n

McMurrow\u2019s campaign explained the discrepancy to news outlets, saying her move was a \u201cprocess\u201d completed by mid-2016 and that she remained registered in California until then.<\/p>\n

Analysis of the deleted posts indicated that she voted in California\u2019s June 2016 Democratic primary and November 2014 election. Public records showed she registered to vote in Michigan in August 2016.<\/p>\n

In her tweets, she reminisced often about the West Coast.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are days like these that make me miss California even more,\u201d McMorrow\u00a0groused<\/a>\u00a0on Jan. 5, 2017, the day before Donald Trump\u2019s victory over Hillary Clinton was certified by Congress. \u00a0<\/p>\n

She seemed to agree with the sentiment that white working-class voters in the Midwest were sheltered and needed to understand diverse communities on the coasts more, not the other way around.<\/p>\n

McMorrow is up against Representative Haley Stevens and former Detroit public health official Abdul El-Sayed in a tight primary race of national interest.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Michigan Republican Party argued McMorrow\u2019s posts are in line with where the Democratic Party is as a whole.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMallory McMorrow just revealed her deep disdain for Middle America, which is exactly in line with where the Democrat Party has been trending for decades,\u201d said Ted Goodman, spokesman for the Michigan GOP.\u00a0<\/p>\n
