SAN DIEGO (FOX 5\/KUSI) \u2014 After more than two years, there\u2019s a sense of relief for many as Hamas released 20 surviving hostages Monday morning.<\/p>\n
Dan Pritsker is a member of the Jewish community in San Diego who has advocated for the release of the hostages.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can say that Donald Trump is the most popular person in Israel right now,\u201d he said. \u201cThey love him and what he did to help the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Palestinians also celebrating the release of about 2,000 prisoners by Israel as part of the Gaza ceasefire deal.<\/p>\n
Isreali prime minister Benjamin Netanyahi called the deal\u201d a diplomatic success and national and moral victory.\u201c<\/p>\n
Hamas said the agreement \u201cprovides for an end to the war in Gaza.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to move forward,\u201d Pritsker said.<\/p>\n
The war\u00a0has left most of Gaza destroyed and hundreds of thousands displaced. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The release of 20 hostages is a promising start for many Israelis but part of the deal calls for Hamas to release the bodies of 28 deceased hostages.<\/p>\n
