Los Angeles and several other counties in California face the recurring issue of increased gas prices with the national average remaining above $6, rising 3.7 cents overnight.<\/p>\n
The average price for a gallon of regular gas has increased by $1.44 since the U.S.-Israel attack on Iran in February. L.A. County\u2019s last record high was documented in October of 2022, when prices were set at $6.494.<\/p>\n
Orange County is facing price increases of 4.7 cents. They have faced a total of ten consecutive days of increases, rising 26.9 cents. Now, the average price is around 17 cents more than it was one week ago. <\/p>\n
\u201cCalifornia\u2019s gasoline supply is significantly affected by the Strait of Hormuz closure,\u201d Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California\u2019s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement. <\/p>\n
Prices for regular gasoline are typically higher in California than in other states due to taxes and fees, along with environmental and fuel requirements.<\/p>\n
There are about two dozen California counties with average gas prices that are topping $6. <\/p>\n

Slow down the speed <\/p>\n
With the increase in gas prices, drivers should begin to consider slowing down on the road. AAA states that the aerodynamic drag causes the fuel economy to drop off as speeds increase above 50 mph. Some may consider using cruise control for a consistent speed on the highway; make sure the roads are dry when using this feature.<\/p>\n

Driving smooth and steady <\/p>\n
Hard acceleration is not a necessity when driving. When you\u2019re at a stoplight, don\u2019t accelerate too quickly, as it is not only bad for your vehicle but also for the fuel economy. Doing so will help the automatic transmission to upshift sooner, which lowers engine RPM to help you save gas.<\/p>\n
Checking your tires <\/p>\n
Where rubber meets the road is a big deal when it comes to taking care of your car and gas consumption. Tires that are properly inflated can help save fuel, while low tire pressure uses more. You can check your wheels by looking at the PSI, which should be in the 30s for safe driving.<\/p>\n
Turn down the air conditioning <\/p>\n
AAA states that it is best to minimize the use of air conditioning when driving. If you can, lower the windows and enjoy the breezy air outside. <\/p>\n
No more drive-thru lines <\/p>\n
Though the drive-thru line might sound easy and quick, many fail to realize that you are actively burning fuel while you wait. If you are stopped for more than 60 seconds, consider turning off your car.
