Altogether, more than 2,200 students are involved in Greek life on campus.

In August 2022, six USC fraternities disaffiliated from the university following the implementation of strict safety regulations.

Those rules — which included tighter recruitment oversight and party restrictions — came in response to numerous allegations of sexual assault and drink spiking reported in 2021.

In total, more than 10 fraternities cut ties with the university, pushing back against what they described as an aggressive crackdown.

The changes followed intense student protests condemning what demonstrators called a “toxic” Greek life culture.

The backlash also led to the suspension of the Sigma Nu chapter, underscoring the growing tension between university leadership and fraternity members.

Despite those challenges, USC continues to rank highly for Greek life, suggesting that its social scene remains a major draw for students — particularly those seeking a balance between academics and an active campus life.
