{"id":298388,"date":"2026-05-03T22:47:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-03T22:47:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/298388\/"},"modified":"2026-05-03T22:47:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-03T22:47:09","slug":"chance-of-rain-and-gloomy-conditions-take-over-bay-area-forecast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/298388\/","title":{"rendered":"Chance of rain and &#8216;gloomy conditions&#8217; take over Bay Area forecast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Drizzle returned to Bay Area skies on Sunday morning as a low pressure system brewed over the California coastline and is expected to bring\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/product.php?site=mtr&amp;issuedby=MTR&amp;product=AFD\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">a chance of light rain<\/a> to the region this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dial Hoang, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service\u2019s Bay Area office, told SFGATE the moisture from the system is \u201cdriving the gloomy conditions the marine layer has expanded upon.\u201d Up to a quarter of an inch of rain could fall over the North Bay, with closer to a few hundredths of an inch of rain expected as far south as San Mateo county and into the East Bay, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are expecting some pretty chilly temperatures\u201d to accompany the precipitation, Hoang said. Daytime highs likely won\u2019t break out of the upper 50s and lower 60s across most of the Bay Area. Some gusty winds are also possible along the coastline Monday.<\/p>\n<p>But the pattern is forecast to shift on Wednesday as the low pressure system moves eastward, and warmer and drier conditions take over again. By Thursday and Friday, inland portions of the region could reach the upper 70s to the mid-80s, Hoang said.
