{"id":299897,"date":"2026-05-04T23:32:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T23:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/299897\/"},"modified":"2026-05-04T23:32:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T23:32:10","slug":"convicted-sex-offender-was-able-to-keep-working-at-long-beach-spa-police-say-long-beach-post-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/299897\/","title":{"rendered":"Convicted sex offender was able to keep working at Long Beach spa, police say \u2022 Long Beach Post News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Long Beach massage therapist was able to keep working at a local spa even though he was a convicted sex offender and at least one woman left a Yelp review saying she\u2019d been assaulted while getting a massage, police allege in newly revealed court documents.<\/p>\n<p>Long Beach police last month <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/news\/crime\/employee-at-long-beach-spa-arrested-on-suspicion-of-sexually-assaulting-women\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">alerted the public<\/a> about Victor Carlos Flores, 36, whom they said may have sexually assaulted multiple women while he worked at La Dolce Vita Spa on East Broadway.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives started investigating Flores in March after a woman told them he\u2019d touched her inappropriately during a massage.<\/p>\n<p>According to court documents, detectives discovered Flores hadn\u2019t had a valid massage license since his expired in 2016. And in 2017, he was convicted of oral copulation with a person under 18 years, according to detectives.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, he was able to keep working at La Dolce Vita. Since as early as 2023, at least one woman had already tried to raise the alarm.<\/p>\n<p>In a Yelp review, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/la-dolce-vita-spa-long-beach?hrid=dfOyq50Eqw42YBxoyUSivw&amp;utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&amp;utm_medium=copy_link&amp;utm_source=(direct)\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">she wrote<\/a> that she\u2019d been sexually assaulted by a massage therapist and was dismissed when she confronted the spa owner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI cannot believe this place hasn\u2019t but [sic] shut down permanently, they should not be in business,\u201d she wrote. \u201cPlease be careful, and I strongly advise you never go to this place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Police contacted the woman, and she identified Flores as the assailant when they showed her his picture, according to a search warrant detectives wrote seeking permission to search the spa.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"537\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/screenshot-2026-04-17-at-125956-pm-537660-16wisnhd-356572-hdmlF3Jk-1024x537.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-183150\"  \/>Victor Carlos Flores. Photo courtesy the Long Beach Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Police then arrested Flores on April 16 and quickly sent out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.longbeach.gov\/globalassets\/police\/media-library\/images\/press-releases\/2026\/suspect-victor-flores.png\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">his photograph<\/a>, asking any other potential victims to come forward.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors have not yet decided what charges to file. Meanwhile, Flores is out of custody. After his arrest, he pleaded no contest to a charge that he failed to properly register as a sex offender and was sentenced to two years of probation.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not clear when prosecutors may file charges related to the sexual assault accusations. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney\u2019s office said the police investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>La Dolce Vita Spa is also facing potential consequences.
