Independent, Annika Kiran Kapur was fired from her teaching position at the Djanogly City Academy in late 2025 after she was accused of drinking alcohol while teaching.

The panel spoke to and heard accounts from various witnesses, some of whom claimed they heard Kapur slurring her speech, prompting some students to ask if she was drunk.

At some point, Kapur allegedly said her students were not listening to her and said, “this class terrifies me,” to an unspecified witness.

Kapur reportedly told the panel that she brought a water bottle to school with her in January 2025 that contained gin and lemon. She claimed that she did not know what was inside the bottle, and that it was left in her bag from her “birthday weekend.”

Kapur said she took a swig from the bottle and instantly realized it was alcohol, but said she could not stop drinking it otherwise the students would realize what it was, authorities reported. Kapur allegedly said she “chugged it to stop myself vomiting,” resulting in her quickly consuming a third of the bottle.

Witnesses reportedly told the panel that Kapur was slurring her speech and seemed uneasy on her feet, eventually pulling a sleeping student from his deck by “gently” grabbing his hair. She asked him to step out of classroom before retching and running out of the classroom herself and throwing up in the staff bathroom, authorities said.

Kapur called the incident a “grievous error” and “horrible mistake.” Although she was indefinitely banned from teaching by the panel, she can apply for prohibition in April 2028.

NOTTINGHAM, England (WKRC) – A teacher was allegedly banned from teaching indefinitely after she told a witness, “this…

[35
151,153,152
post-300255","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-bakersfield","tag-bakersfield","tag-bakersfield-headlines","tag-bakersfield-news
["GET
