But they often skip over the decisions that are happening in their backyard, and turn to the actions in Washington.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For many, that\u2019s not the story in Oakland County.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On April 8, hundreds of people showed up to protest surveillance technology. And because of the way<a id=\"https:\/\/wdet.org\/2026\/05\/01\/public-comments-on-flock-surveillance-halted-in-oakland-county-meeting\/\" href=\"https:\/\/wdet.org\/2026\/05\/01\/public-comments-on-flock-surveillance-halted-in-oakland-county-meeting\/\" type=\"link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> that meeting was conducted<\/a>, a number of people decided to organize to try to recall Oakland County Chair Dave Woodward.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What happened at that April 8 meeting? What would it mean to recall the legislative leader of Oakland County? What might come of all this local political organizing?<\/p>\n<p>Justine Galbraith is a leader of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/iamoaklandcounty\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">I Am Oakland County<\/a> campaign.
