LIVE AT FREMONT PARK WITH A LOOK. MIKE. BRANDI. MIKE. I’VE HAD MORE THAN ONE PERSON STOP ME TODAY GOING. WHAT’S THAT? AS THEY WERE WALKING HERE AT FREMONT PARK. SO WHAT IS THAT? WELL, IT’S A WHOLE LOT OF ORANGE, AS YOU CAN SEE. BUT WE HAVE THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE MIDTOWN ASSOCIATION HERE. TELL US, WHAT IS IT WE’RE LOOKING AT? YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE KAISER PERMANENTE FREMONT PARK BLOOM, WHICH IS ESSENTIALLY 30 POPPIES THERE BETWEEN 6 AND 9FT TALL. THEY’RE OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY, AND THEY GLOW AT NIGHT. AND THIS ALL OPENS SATURDAY. CORRECT TO THE PUBLIC. TODAY IS KIND OF OUR PREVIEW UNVEILING, BUT WHAT’S THE MOTIVATION BEHIND HAVING THIS TYPE OF ARTWORK HERE? YEAH, TODAY IS A SNEAK PEAK, BUT IT DOES OPEN ON SECOND SATURDAY, WHICH IS COMING THIS SATURDAY. AND IT’S REALLY AN OPPORTUNITY TO CELEBRATE EVERYTHING. CALIFORNIA WITH THE POPPY, EVERYTHING MIDTOWN WITH FUN, PLAYFUL ART IN THE PARK. IT’S REALLY AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MIDTOWN ASSOCIATION, MIDTOWN PARKS AND ALL OF OUR PARTNERS TO GIVE BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY WITH JUST A FREE, FUN THING TO DO DURING THE SUMMER. AND YOU ALSO MENTIONED THERE IS A ELEMENT HERE OF WOMEN EMPOWERMENT. ABSOLUTELY. SO THIS WAS PULLED TOGETHER BY A GROUP CALLED WOMEN IN PLACEMAKING, WHICH IS A DIFFERENT PROJECT WE DO EVERY 3 TO 5 YEARS. THERE’S BEEN A COUPLE OTHER LIGHT INSTALLATIONS THAT HAVE GONE IN, AND THIS WAS CONSTRUCTED BY AN ALL FEMALE TEAM BETWEEN A FEMALE LANDSCAPE DESIGNER, A FEMALE ARTIST, AND FEMALES AT THE CITY THAT WERE LEADING THE PROJECT. MYSELF AND SOME OTHER PROJECT PARTNERS. VERY COOL. AND WE ALSO HAVE SPECIAL GUESTS HERE FOR THIS UNVEILING. TODAY WE HAVE BUTTERFLIES, RIGHT, THAT ARE GOING TO BE RELEASED AS PART OF THIS. WE DO. SO WE’RE GOING TO BE RELEASING SOME POLLINATORS, SOME BRIGHT ORANGE BUTTERFLIES. AFTER A COUPLE WORDS FROM ALL THE FOLKS THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THIS IN A FEW MINUTES. AWESOME. AND AGAIN, IT WILL ONCE IT OPENS TO THE PUBLIC ON SATURDAY, BE HERE AT FREMONT PARK FOR THE NEXT 40 DAYS. IT WILL ENCOMPASS TWO SECOND SATURDAYS HERE AT FREMONT PARK. AND AGAIN, I’M GOING TO STEP OUT OF THE WAY. WHY DON’T YOU COME OVER HERE, EMILY, AND LET MIKE AND BRANDI HAVE ANOTHER LOOK, JUST IN CASE YOU MISSED IT. THERE’S A WHOLE LOT OF ORANGE HERE AT FREMONT PARK. ALL POPPIES RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF PEOPLE COME AND ENJOY AND EVEN DO YOGA. IT’S VERY NICE ON SATURDAY. YEAH, THE POPPIES ARE POPPING.
