(KRON) \u2014 A longtime Oakland resident and legendary Hollywood actor \u2014 who was recently seen in Oakland native Ryan Coogler\u2019s critically acclaimed, award-wining film \u201cSinners\u201d \u2014 will be honored by the City of Oakland and Mayor Barbara Lee Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Ryan Coogler\u2019s \u2018Sinners\u2019 sets Oscars record, director\u2019s St. Mary\u2019s College writing teacher reflects <\/a><\/p>\n Delroy Lindo, 73, will be spotlighted at an event titled \u2018Rooted in Legacy\u2019 at Oakland City Hall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n Lindo is expected to be presented a Key to the City of Oakland\u00a0by Mayor Lee and a proclamation declaring May 6 as \u201cDelroy Lindo Day.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis thoughtfully curated experience will center an intimate fireside conversation between Mayor Lee and Mr. Lindo, designed to engage and inspire emerging young leaders through storytelling, reflection, and mentorship,\u201d according to a news release from the mayor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n The event will also unveil a custom jersey from the Golden State Warriors.<\/p>\n The actor, known for breakout performances in films such as \u201cMalcolm X,\u201d \u201cGet Shorty,\u201d \u201cSpike Lee\u2019s Da 5 Bloods\u201d and \u201cSinners\u201d was born in London and studied at San Francisco State University.<\/p>\n \u201cSinners\u201d was nominated for a historic 16 nominations at this year\u2019s Academy Awards, winning four awards, including Best Original Screenplay for Coogler<\/a>.<\/p>\n Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
