{"id":305724,"date":"2026-05-08T09:08:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T09:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/305724\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T09:08:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T09:08:07","slug":"man-65-dies-in-hit-and-run-while-visiting-los-angeles-for-baseball-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/305724\/","title":{"rendered":"Man, 65, dies in hit-and-run while visiting Los Angeles for baseball series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LOS ANGELES (KABC) \u2013 Los Angeles police are searching for the driver who struck and killed a man visiting from Chicago last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police said 65-year-old Jose Melesio was in Los Angeles for the Chicago Cubs series against the Dodgers when he was struck on April 27.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Melesio was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed and fled without stopping.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cHe was full of life, such a great guy to be around. He has a lot of friends and family members in Chicago that are just heartbroken and extremely distraught due to the events that happened. He was just here for a Dodger game,\u201d Oscar Flores, Melesio\u2019s cousin, said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">There is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lapdonline.org\/newsroom\/hit-and-run-leaves-65-year-old-man-dead-nr26091kt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.lapdonline.org\/newsroom\/hit-and-run-leaves-65-year-old-man-dead-nr26091kt\/\">reward<\/a> of up to $50,000 for information leading to the driver\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police do not have a description of the driver, but authorities said body shop owners should be on the lookout for a car with recent front-end damage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIf you\u2019re out there, you know who you are.
