{"id":307389,"date":"2026-05-09T07:28:47","date_gmt":"2026-05-09T07:28:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/307389\/"},"modified":"2026-05-09T07:28:47","modified_gmt":"2026-05-09T07:28:47","slug":"visalia-business-owner-says-grocery-trip-turns-humiliating-after-hot-cheetos-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/307389\/","title":{"rendered":"Visalia business owner says grocery trip turns humiliating after Hot Cheetos dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Visalia woman says a routine grocery trip for her restaurant turned into a humiliating experience when she was told she could not purchase a cart full of Hot Cheetos that were on sale.<\/p>\n<p>Gloria Rodriguez says a manager at the Foods Co in Tulare refused to sell the items to her, despite there being no posted purchase limits.<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez says she is disappointed by how the situation was handled and notes she has bought large quantities of Hot Cheetos before without any issues.<\/p>\n<p>She took her concerns to social media following the incident, where her video quickly went viral.<\/p>\n<p><p>Visalia business owner says grocery trip turns humiliating after Hot Cheetos dispute.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>In the video, Rodriguez says she felt embarrassed during the interaction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so embarrassed at this moment, how Miss Juanita treated me, like if I was some type of criminal like I was going to steal the basket and run out with the bag of Cheetos,\u201d she said. \u201cYou can do better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez, the owner of \u201cMzGlow\u2019s Kitchen,\u201d says she began her Friday morning with a grocery run for her business, where Hot Cheetos are a key ingredient in many of her dishes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t get into a corporate because they\u2019re going to want me to buy pallets of them, and I don\u2019t have sufficient funds for that,\u201d she said. \u201cSo, I figured, let me look at sales and stuff like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But she says the shopping trip took a turn when a store manager approached her cart and questioned her purchase.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe said, \u2018Are you going to purchase all that?\u2019 And I said yeah,\u201d Rodriguez said. \u201cShe said there\u2019s a limit, and I told her it doesn\u2019t say that anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez says she tried to explain her situation but felt she was being interrupted and ultimately denied service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was trying to explain I\u2019ve been here before, I\u2019ve bought your products before,\u201d she said. \u201cShe said no, I\u2019m going to refuse your service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez says the experience left her devastated.<\/p>\n<p>However, she says a worker at a Foods Co location in Hanford saw her video, spoke with her team, and reached out to welcome her business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no limit,\u201d she says the worker told her, adding that she was invited to shop at the Hanford store.<\/p>\n<p>When she arrived, Rodriguez says a pallet of product was ready and waiting for her.<\/p>\n<p>The contrasting experiences at two stores in the same chain have raised questions about the store&#8217;s policies. <\/p>\n<p>FOX26 News visited the Tulare Foods Co location and asked about any purchase limits.
