ANAHEIM, Calif. (KTNV) \u2014 For most Vegas Golden Knights fans at Honda Center this weekend, the second-round playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks is simply a road trip.<\/p>\n
For Peter and Becky Eminger, it feels like something much more personal.<\/p>\n

The couple became Golden Knights fans before the franchise even played its first game \u2014 putting down a deposit when the NHL first announced Las Vegas would receive a team.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe actually have been fans ever since before Vegas when they first announced the team,\u201d Peter Eminger said. \u201cWe put our deposit down so that they could help.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Emingers lived in Las Vegas during the Golden Knights\u2019 inaugural season and became original season ticket holders as the city embraced hockey in real time during the team\u2019s historic run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2018.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was great for Vegas to have a team and to see the community build around a team like that,\u201d Becky Eminger said. \u201cLas Vegas never had that before.\u201d<\/p>\n
Eventually, life brought the couple to Orange County \u2014 but their loyalty to the Golden Knights never changed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were there at the beginning, so you just kind of have this emotional attachment to it,\u201d Peter said.<\/p>\n
Now, years later, they get to watch the team they supported from day one play playoff hockey just minutes from their new home.<\/p>\n
Still, they say nothing compares to watching a game inside T-Mobile Arena.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not the same,\u201d Peter said. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing that\u2019s the same about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Becky agreed.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, we prefer to watch them when we\u2019re not the enemy,\u201d he said with a laugh. \u201cIt\u2019s great to just see them still doing well \u2014 that first inaugural season wasn\u2019t a fluke. They really have what it takes. They\u2019re building a brand, a team that\u2019s going to have staying power.\u201d<\/p>\n
And after Vegas reclaimed the series lead with a dominant Game 3 win in Anaheim, the couple remains confident the Golden Knights can finish the job.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re going to win,\u201d Peter said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think they can win,\u201d Becky added. \u201cThey have to.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ANAHEIM, Calif.
