As soon as the Fresno City College women’s beach volleyball team clinched a spot in the CCCAA state championship, head coach Kieran Roblee turned to an assistant and asked, “Third time’s a charm?”

Her Rams made sure there would be no second-place finish.

Just as they had all season, the Rams dominated, defeating MiraCosta College 3-0 to complete a perfect season and capture the program’s first CCCAA state championship in Walnut on Thursday.

“They were intentional with their growth,” Roblee said. “They’re intentional with their commitment, drive and support. I think if you talk to coaches that have been coaching a long time, you kind of know when teams have this extra thing that’s going to make them do well. It’s something you can’t describe.”

Fresno City finished the season 29-0, sealing one of the most dominant campaigns in school history.

Mikayla Weiss and Cambria Waites earned the Rams’ first point of the championship dual with a 21-16, 21-18 victory over Gwen Mitchell and Kylie Osborne at the No. 3 pairs spot.

Kalani Soares and Annika Ramirez followed with a commanding 21-12, 21-10 win over Willow Snow and Emily Musolf.

The title-clinching point came from Haiden Davis and Olivia Gleason, who defeated Claire Komadina and Savai Kilaulani 21-19, 21-15 in the No. 4 pairs match.

The Rams’ dominance stretched throughout the postseason. Fresno City opened the state championships with a 5-0 sweep of Long Beach City.

After falling 3-2 in each of the past two championship matches — against Feather River and San Diego Mesa — Fresno City left little doubt this time around.

Devyn Castaneda and Morgan Castaneda set the tone early with a 21-9, 21-9 victory over Mia Lundberg and Layla Folkers.

Just how dominant was Roblee’s team? The Rams recorded sweeps in 27 of their 29 matches this season.

“From day one, this group was locked in,” Roblee said. “We played some really good volleyball yesterday. I’m just so happy for them because of what they invested. There is only one team that can say that they were the first (to go undefeated).”

As soon as the Fresno City College women’s beach volleyball team clinched a spot in the CCCAA state…

[31
112,1907,114,113,130101,120953,10947,36418,92521,59782
post-309947","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fresno","tag-fresno","tag-fresno-city-college","tag-fresno-headlines","tag-fresno-news","tag-kieran-roblee","tag-miracosta-college","tag-rams","tag-state-championship","tag-state-championships","tag-the-rams
["GET
