(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 It struck 100 degrees for the very first time this year at Bakersfield&#8217;s official weather station: Meadows Field. The thermometer climbed to the century mark at 3:59 for the first time, and then did it again at 4:59 and 5:20 PM too.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"KBAK\/KBFX\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/18370a47-4ec5-4091-b951-98fbaa6ef697-First100DegreeDay.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Triple digits were common across some of our desert spots with Edwards topping out at 102 and a thermometer in Ridgecrest even reaching 104. The Kern River Valley hit the mid to upper 90s. Even Tehachapi reached all the way to 90, while Frazier Park peaked at 83.<\/p>\n<p>Bakersfield&#8217;s Temperatures came close to, but not quite up to, the daily record. There will possibly be another close call tomorrow, before a welcome break from the recent heat will begin the day after.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"KBAK\/KBFX\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/371e8996-fb45-4be3-beb4-3a4f73ec6ddc-UpcomingRecordHighsIN.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The upper pattern may favor a status-quo scenario going into Tuesday for a near repeat of temperatures. As such, another chance at 100+ across the South Valley, and our desert communities, will exist before area thermometers begin falling.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"KBAK\/KBFX\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/cf618381-a1d7-4c2c-8e89-765a4c96965b-lookingahead.JPG\"\/><\/p>\n<p>An upper-level low is then forecast to scoot into the Pacific Northwest heading into midweek and while its trajectory offers very little, if any, chance of so much as a raindrop anywhere near our area the shift in airmass will certainly bring about some welcome cooling. Temperatures could fall back into the upper 80s by Wednesday and down into the low 80s by Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"KBAK\/KBFX\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ba154ba2-2351-46a4-8a46-df2a177b3546-Wednesday.JPG\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The winds are also expected to kick up a notch as the system passes by to the north. This will be true even for the South Valley where west to northwest winds may get rather brisk during the afternoon and evening hours.
