Executives from the Port of Long Beach and two companies signed an agreement on Monday, May 11, to commit to establishing the port\u2019s first Green Truck Corridor.<\/p>\n

The goal is to accelerate the transition to a zero-emissions supply chain.<\/p>\n

Executives from Lincoln Transportation Services and Wonderful Real Estate Development were on hand for the official signing of the memorandum of understanding. The corridor is designed to promote zero-emissions goods movement on the trucking corridor between Long Beach and the Central Valley.<\/p>\n

It is expected to accelerate the port\u2019s zero-emissions goals and create a new model for sustainable logistics.<\/p>\n

The ceremony took place at the port\u2019s Maintenance Facility and those in attendance included port CEO Noel Hacegaba; Jose Cardenas, CEO of Lincoln Transportation Services; and Joe Vargas, president of Wonderful Real Estate Development. On site were a Tesla Semi and Voltz electric truck, the two models Lincoln plans to use along the corridor.<\/p>\n

Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson and harbor commission President Frank Colonna also attended.<\/p>\n

The Port of Long Beach, along with neighboring Los Angeles, has spent year investing in ways to become more environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n

Last year, for example, was the port\u2019s 20th anniversary of its Green Port Policy. During his state of the port address earlier this year, Hacegaba pledged a continued push \u2014 in partnership with the Port of L.A. \u2014 toward an environmentally clean future.<\/p>\n
