The winds are really increasing across Kern County this evening, which is the first sign of a cooldown! However, they are also part of the reason that the National Weather Service has issued a “Red Flag Warning” for parts of our region. The combination of high temperatures, low relative humidity and strengthening winds could lead to rapidly spreading wildfires, if they were to develop. The areas under this alert includes the desert, the mountains encompassing Tehachapi, Frazier Park, Lebec and surrounding communities and the west-side hills of the South Valley.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a HEAT ADVISORY is up for the Central and South Valley as well as the Kern River Valley. Both products are up until 10 PM tonight.<\/p>\n
Wednesday will be notably cooler with most areas not expected to even reach 90 and the mountains could spend the warmest part of the day in the low 70s. Winds, however, will continue from the mountains into the desert, including the Kern River Valley and it could still be a bit breezy for the Valley. Because of this wildfire potential will still be there since winds can whip up flames and lead to them spreading quickly as a result of dry grasses in the area.<\/p>\n
