{"id":315551,"date":"2026-05-14T15:49:05","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T15:49:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/315551\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T15:49:05","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T15:49:05","slug":"fullerton-city-council-adopts-ordinances-revising-municipal-code-and-restricting-kratom-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/315551\/","title":{"rendered":"Fullerton City Council Adopts Ordinances Revising Municipal Code and Restricting Kratom Sales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fullertonobserver.com\/category\/local-government-news\/\" class=\"post-lead-category\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Local Government<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Fullerton\u00a0City Council unanimously adopted two ordinances during its May 5, 2026, meeting, including a sweeping update to the city\u2019s municipal code and new restrictions on the sale and distribution of kratom products.<\/p>\n<p>According to a public notice issued by the City Clerk\u2019s Office, Ordinance No. 3356 revises, amends, restates, codifies, and compiles existing general ordinances contained within the Fullerton Municipal Code.<br \/>City officials described the ordinance as an effort to reorganize and formally update the city\u2019s existing laws and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The Council also adopted Ordinance No. 3357, which adds Chapter 7.22 to Title 7 of the Fullerton Municipal Code, establishing restrictions on the sale or distribution of kratom products within the city.<br \/>Kratom is a plant-derived substance that has drawn increasing scrutiny nationwide because of concerns over health effects, consumer safety, and unregulated sales. The newly adopted ordinance places kratom regulations under the city\u2019s \u201cPublic Safety and Morals\u201d title of the municipal code.<\/p>\n<p>The ordinances were approved by a unanimous vote of the City Council.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the public may review the adopted ordinances at the Fullerton City Clerk\u2019s Office located at 303 W. Commonwealth Ave. during regular business hours.
