Head coach Joel Quenneville commended Zellweger for his compete level, as he didn\u2019t\u00a0get discouraged from\u00a0missing the first nine games of the postseason as a healthy scratch.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe bided his time, he worked his tail off getting himself not just conditionally ready for it, but mentally,\u201d head coach Joel Quenneville said of Zellweger. \u201cThat was the thing that we were all appreciative of, how he approached it and prepared himself to be a part of it and contribute in a meaningful way. And he did more than we were expecting.”<\/p>\n
Per Quenneville,\u00a0Ryan Poehling (upper-body) is out tonight as the head coach said he\u2019s not sure \u201chow long it\u2019s going to be\u201d after Poehling was knocked out of Game 5 following a vicious hit away from the play by\u00a0Brayden McNabb. The Ducks were awarded a five-minute major (and scored the game’s first goal) and yesterday\u00a0McNabb was suspended one game and will miss tonight\u2019s contest.<\/p>\n
While other teams could be defeated by the ending to\u00a0Tuesday\u2019s game, the Ducks are choosing to confront the loss head on.\u00a0Quenneville said\u00a0now\u2019s not the time to be making\u00a0big changes since \u201cone bounce went to [Vegas]\u201d\u00a0and knowing tonight is\u00a0a\u00a0win-or-go-home\u00a0scenario.<\/p>\n
The Comeback Quacks\u00a0spent much of the regular season crawling back from being down.\u00a0While the tenor of a series is different,\u00a0the team hasn\u2019t lost two games in a row in the playoffs and\u00a0Ducks players said\u00a0they\u2019re looking forward to\u00a0giving it their all\u00a0in\u00a0hopes of extending\u00a0Round 2\u00a0to seven games.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a new day,\u201d John Carlson said. \u201cWe have to attack what\u2019s ahead of us and I think we all feel confident that we can\u00a0win two games.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m pretty excited to see what we all got,\u201d McTavish said. \u201cI know it\u2019s our first time with our backs against the wall, and I\u2019m excited for us to kind of show everybody what we got. I expect a lot of confidence, and it\u2019ll be a great game Thursday.
