The\u00a0Studio William Hefner-designed abode<\/a>\u00a0in Del Mar, completed in 2024, was put up for sale that November for $75 million. The following June, it received a price cut that brought the asking price to $59.5 million, and it ultimately sold in October for a record-setting $49.9 million, with Rande Turner and Melissa James of Pacific Sotheby\u2019s International Realty overseeing the transaction.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe closing amount marks the biggest residential sale ever in San Diego County, topping a La Jolla home sold for $47 million in an off-market deal only about a week earlier, the\u00a0San Diego Union-Tribune reported<\/a>. The new owner of the Del Mar home has not been revealed, but the deed shows the property was purchased by Ocean Front Vibrations LLC.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the 1930s, a family member bought the undeveloped sandlot. It sat vacant for nearly 100 years before they were able to complete construction, following 12 years of approvals for its seawall and extra improvements,\u00a0among other challenges<\/a>. Two guesthouses accompany the roughly 4,500-square-foot main residence.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe main house with a sophisticated indoor-outdoor design anchors the grounds. Owners can seamlessly float between the living and dining rooms, plus the chef\u2019s kitchen that features veined marble counters and backsplashes. Fleetwood doors open to both a covered patio and a 75-foot beachfront deck with built-in bench seating and a fire pit. A private gate leads down to the sandy shoreline.<\/p>\n

A family room dressed in blood orange paint and the ocean-view office are other highlights of the waterfront home in egg-borrowing proximity to a home owned by Bill Gates and walking distance to Seagrove Park, the Del Mar Farmers Market, and the downtown shopping district.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe property is \u201cbuilt like a custom superyacht to withstand the elements,\u201d press materials state, which is most evident in the interior courtyard. Here, design details like DaVinci roofing and Arriscraft Walnut brick veneer accent the various structures alongside a large swimming pool and hot tub, a ping-pong pavilion, and a grilling area.\u00a0<\/p>\n
