{"id":317045,"date":"2026-05-15T10:42:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T10:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/317045\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T10:42:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T10:42:08","slug":"california-launches-1-billion-rebate-program-for-electric-trucks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/317045\/","title":{"rendered":"California launches $1 billion rebate program for electric trucks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/2026\/05\/13\/governor-newsom-announces-californias-new-1-billion-rebate-program-for-electric-trucks-as-trump-cedes-global-clean-vehicle-market-to-china\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a> that applications are now open for the state\u2019s California Clean Fuel Reward (CCFR) rebate program, which looks to accelerate the adoption of electric medium and heavy-duty trucks across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Through the program, around $250 million worth of funding will be made available this year alone, with the total funding from the scheme set to reach over $1 billion by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Under this new program, operaters will be able to benefit from rebates ranging from $7,500 to $120,000, applied against the cost of all electric medium and heavy-duty trucks \u2013 such as drayage trucks, semis, delivery vans, box trucks, and more.<\/p>\n<p>This new funding further cements California\u2019s position as a US leader for electric trucks. Even in 2024, zero-emission vehicles accounted for 24% of new medium and heavy-duty vehicle sales in California, and that proportion is set to rise further in light of this new rebate program. Relevant public infrastructure is also rising in the state \u2013 large-scale truck charging hubs are <a href=\"https:\/\/electricdrives.tv\/wattev-expands-its-electric-truck-charging-depot-in-san-bernardino-california\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">starting to pop up<\/a>, while technology such as <a href=\"https:\/\/electricdrives.tv\/kempower-reaches-megawatt-truck-charging-milestone-in-california\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">megawatt truck charging<\/a> is already becoming a reality.<\/p>\n<p>California Governor Gavin Newsom commented:<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">\u201cWhile Trump surrenders America\u2019s auto industry to China, California is choosing a different path \u2014 one that cements our global leadership in clean technologies that will define the future of transportation. California will never stop fighting for good-paying American jobs, economic prosperity, and a more secure future for our workers and families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer of Southern California Edison, Funmi Williamson, added:<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">\u201cAs the largest utility-led incentive program of its kind for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, the California Clean Fuel Reward represents a historic step forward in fleet electrification.
