FRESNO, Calif. \u2014 Fresno police are searching for an armed and dangerous suspect after an officer was shot Saturday night during an attempted arrest connected to a domestic violence investigation.<\/p>\n
Police say officers first responded around 6:28 p.m. Saturday to a confidential location near East Garrett and South Clara avenues for a reported domestic disturbance.<\/p>\n
Investigators identified 56-year-old Paul Rodriguez Cisneros as the suspect. According to police, Cisneros was wanted on domestic violence-related charges including assault with a deadly weapon involving a vehicle and criminal threats. Officers also learned he was allegedly armed with a handgun.<\/p>\n
At about 9:23 p.m., uniformed officers went to the confidential location to try to arrest Cisneros.<\/p>\n
Police say the officers were immediately met with gunfire as they got out of their patrol vehicle.<\/p>\n
One officer was shot multiple times in the arm and upper body. A second officer was not injured.<\/p>\n
The wounded officer was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment and is listed in stable condition, according to Fresno police.<\/p>\n
Authorities say Cisneros fled the scene and remains at large.<\/p>\n
In addition to the domestic violence-related charges, Cisneros is now wanted for:<\/p>\n
Attempted murder of a police officerTwo counts of assault with a deadly weaponTwo counts of resisting an executive officerFelon in possession of a firearm<\/p>\n
Police say Cisneros should be considered armed and dangerous.<\/p>\n
Anyone who sees Cisneros or knows his whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately.<\/p>\n
