An 8-year-old boy died at a hospital after he was struck by a car in North Long Beach over the weekend, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Long Beach police were called to Paramount Boulevard and 56th Street about 4:40 p.m. Saturday, May 16, and found Long Beach Fire Department paramedics attempting to help the boy, police said.<\/p>\n
Police believe the boy ran into the street along Paramount and was hit by a 2020 Honda Civic traveling southbound, police said.<\/p>\n
Why the boy ran into traffic lanes was not known.<\/p>\n
The car\u2019s driver remained on scene, and police do not believe speed, distracted driving or impaired driving were factors in the crash, they said.<\/p>\n
Whether the boy\u2019s parents were present at the time of the crash was unclear. They were with the boy at the hospital, police said.<\/p>\n
