AFTER THE REVIEW, THE A’S TAKE THE SERIES. SOME ELITE SWIMMERS ARE IN TOWN THIS WEEKEND, INCLUDING A HOMECOMING FOR ONE OLYMPIAN, KCRA 3 SPORTS DIRECTOR MICHELLE DAPPER WAS HANGING OUT AT THE POOL TODAY. WELL, THE COUNTDOWN IS ON. 784 DAYS UNTIL THE SUMMER GAMES IN LOS ANGELES. COME 2028. WHO’S COUNTING? THESE ATHLETES ARE. THE TOUR PRO SERIES COMES TO SACRAMENTO THIS WEEKEND, FEATURING A POOL FULL OF TALENT, ELITE COMPETITORS, OLYMPIANS FROM THE COLLEGE RANKS TO EVEN THE FRESH FACES OF THE SPORT. UP AND COMERS LIKE LAUREN LONSDALE, A 14 YEAR OLD WHO STANDS SIX FEET TALL AND RACES FOR SWIMMING. SHE FINISHED SEVENTH IN THE WOMEN’S 200 METER FREESTYLE. FOR STARTERS, SHE’S SIX FEET TALL AND SHE’S 14 YEARS OLD, BUT SHE HAS BEAUTIFUL STROKES. SHE’S GOT A REALLY GREAT ENGINE, AS WE, AS WE CALL IT. AND YOU KNOW, SHE’S GOING UP AGAINST SOME OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD AND NOT BEING SHY ABOUT IT. SO THAT WAS REALLY FUN TO WATCH. THREE TIME OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST TORRI HUSKE IN THE POOL AND CONTINUES TO MAKE A SPLASH, WINNING BOTH THE 100 METER BUTTERFLY AND THE 200 FREE. SACRAMENTO. LUCA ORLANDO WASN’T IN THE POOL TONIGHT. INSTEAD, HE WAS BUSY WITH AN AUTOGRAPH SESSION AND THE WORLD CHAMPION FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK HOME. FEELING GOOD? YEAH. READY TO TO ATTACK THIS SUMMER? READY TO COMPETE AT PAN PACIFIC GAMES. AND REALLY JUST APPRECIATE ALL THE SPORT HAS TO OFFER. THE HIGHS AND THE LOWS AND REALLY KIND OF JUST LEARNING FROM EVERY OPPORTUNITY THIS RESILIENCE, RIGHT? HE’S GONE THROUGH A LOT IN HIS CAREER THROUGH HIS INJURIES, HIS STORY, MAKING. THE TEAM IN PARIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST STORIES OF THE OF THE OLYMPIC TRIALS. AND THEN TO FOLLOW UP THE NEXT YEAR AND BE THE WORLD CHAMPION IN THE 200 BUTTERFLY. I MEAN, HE’S JUST SUCH A GREAT GUY. AS THE FOCUS STARTS TO SHIFT TOWARDS LA 2028, LUCA KNOWS PACE IS EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW. IT’S REALLY JUST LISTENING TO MY BODY. LIKE YOU SAID, NOT DOING TOO MUCH AND JUST REALLY TRYING TO FIND WHERE I’M AT RIGHT NOW IN TRAINING. AND I HAVE GREAT COACHES THAT THAT RECOGNIZE WHERE I’M AT AND WE’RE ABLE TO TAILOR THESE WORKOUTS. TO ME RIGHT NOW, IT’S A LONG PATH. IT’S NOT A LINEAR PROGRESSION. THERE’S GOING TO BE UPS AND DOWNS TO THAT. BUT I THINK FOR FROM OUR SIDE, FROM THE NATIONAL TEAM SIDE, WE’RE JUST TRYING TO, TO, TO BUILD CULTURE. AND I THINK THAT’S BEEN REALLY FUN HAVING PEOPLE LIKE LUCA ON OUR NATIONAL TEAM HELPS US DO THAT. STILL LOVING THE SPORT, STILL HAVING FUN. I’M STILL LOVING IT. HAVING FUN. YEAH. NOW, LUCA TELLS ME, HIS SHOULDER FEELING PRETTY GOOD. HE PLANS TO STAY IN SACRAMENTO AND TRAIN ALL SUMMER LONG HERE IN THE CAPITAL CITY WITH HIS DART SWIMMING COACH, BILLY DOTY. OF COURSE YOU SEE HIM AT THE POOL. MAKE SURE YOU SAY HI. OF COURSE, THE COMPETITION HERE DOES CONTINUE THROUGHOUT T

Olympic swimmers arrive in Sacramento for competitions, community events

   Updated: 11:34 PM PDT May 21, 2026

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

Elite swimmers, including Olympians Torri Huske and Luca Urlando, are in Sacramento this weekend for races and community events.
