{"id":328280,"date":"2026-05-22T20:14:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T20:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/328280\/"},"modified":"2026-05-22T20:14:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T20:14:08","slug":"sacramento-franklin-boulevard-bar-shooting-ends-in-conviction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/328280\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacramento Franklin Boulevard bar shooting ends in conviction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SAC jail cell inmate bars law and order police sheriff crime placeholder grab frame still.png\"   width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" title=\"\" alt=\"Bars from a jail cell frame a door being locked.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A Sacramento County jury found a man guilty Thursday of second-degree murder in a 2022 shooting at a south Sacramento bar that left one man dead and three others injured.<\/p>\n<p>Joel Tyrone Zeigler was convicted of second-degree murder, attempted murder and three counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sacda.org\/2026\/05\/defendant-convicted-of-shooting-murder-at-goemans-bar\/\">Sacramento County District Attorney\u2019s Office announced in a news release.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Zeigler was at Goeman\u2019s Bar on April 17, 2022, when he saw a man he believed had been involved in a previous shooting of his brother, according to prosecutors. The bar on 7200 Franklin Blvd. now operates as Score Bar &amp; Lounge.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after midnight on Easter Sunday, Zeigler fired seven shots at the man, striking him and three bystanders, prosecutors said. Robert Earl Daniel, a 33-year-old bystander, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/local\/crime\/article260737907.html\">was shot in the back and killed<\/a>, according to previous Bee reporting.<\/p>\n<p>Zeigler was arrested days later and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on a murder charge<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said an allegation that Zeigler has prior strike convictions for robbery and carjacking will be decided at sentencing.<\/p>\n<p>Zeigler, who remains in Main Jail custody, faces a maximum sentence of 123 years to life in prison.
